Agnieszka has been an integral member of the PICAC SA team since its inception. As a passionate educator, she plays a key role in disseminating information, facilitating training sessions, and contributing to resource development. Agnieszka’s extensive experience includes participating in consultations and network meetings with individuals from CALD backgrounds, their carers, and support networks, as well as CALD-specific and generalist service providers.
In addition, Agnieszka has presented at various conferences, advocating for CALD issues, particularly the role of cultural competency in culturally appropriate care provision in both community and long-term care settings. As a certified Cultural Detective Facilitator, she skilfully applies an intercultural approach to her work and practice.
Agnieszka has been actively involved in the work of the PICAC Partnership National Network (PPNN) and the PICAC Alliance. She has successfully obtained NACA (National Aged Care Alliance) membership for the PICAC Alliance and was elected to be the ongoing representative for the PICAC Alliance at NACA. She advocates for CALD voices being included in discussion and NACA papers. Since August 2022, she has also been the Co-chair of the NACA Human Right Strategic Priority Group.
Agnieszka has expanded her professional perspective through completed studies in Applied Gerontology (Flinders University) and Dementia studies (University of Tasmania). She combines her teaching experience (Jagiellonian University) with her passion for professional development, policy making, and system solutions for aged care. Agnieszka firmly believes in a person-centred approach that recognizes each individual as a cultural being and responds to their values to achieve quality care.
Agnieszka was born and educated in Krakow, Poland and she lived in London, UK for several years to improve her English language skills. She migrated to Australia in 2009 with her Polish husband and has since added valuable perspectives to the Australian aged care sector.
